Newspapers in Our Schools is a cooperative effort between The Times-Sentinel/ Haysville Sun-Times and area businesses that are generously assisting with the cost of printing additional newspapers each week to provide one paper for each classroom in our coverage area – Cheney, Clearwater, Garden Plain, Goddard and Haysville.

Argonia Wednesday PTO ice cream social, 6:30 p.m., Argonia Elementary School. Monday Argonia City Council, 6 p.m., City Hall (rescheduled from May 6).

Following are next week’s menus for Friendship Meals and Meals on Wheels in both Sedgwick County and Sumner County. A change was made recently, and there are now different menus for Sedgwick County and Sumner County.

CLEARWATER – This Thursday, Clearwater Intermediate Middle School will host Lunch on the Green. The public and parents are invited to join students for lunch featuring hamburgers and hot dogs.

City council meetings for Argonia and Goddard were rescheduled because of Monday’s threat of severe weather. Goddard’s meeting was held on Wednesday of this week.

SUMNER COUNTY – A Sumner County Farm Talk will be held on May 17 at the Cowley College-Sumner Campus in the Tech Building at 8:30 a.m. This event is sponsored by Cowley College- Sumner Campus and Sumner County K-State Research & Extension.

GODDARD – The Goddard Puppet Ladies will present “Officer Buckle and Gloria” on Thursday, May 16. The show will be at 9:30 a.m.

Youths ages 14 and 15 years old who plan to do farm work for someone other than a parent or guardian must take a tractor safety course. The course is required by the U.S.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – With a second chance at extending Haysville’s 1-cent sales tax, voters did so by a wide margin. Tuesday’s special election saw the sales tax approved by a 557 to 387 margin.

Graduation ceremonies get started across the area this weekend. First up is the Goddard Academy graduation, which will take place at 7 p.m.
