Goddard pursues grant for pedestrian bridge over highway

TSnews GODDARD – During a special meeting on March 6, the Goddard City Council hired a consulting firm to help city staff apply for a multi-million-dollar federal grant. If Goddard were to win the grant, the Environmental Protection Agency would fund the construction of a pedestrian footbridge over U.S.

Community center re-opens with new look

GODDARD – The newly renovated Goddard Community Center was re-opened to the public on Monday evening with an open house and a Goddard Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. The center had been closed since August to allow for a remodel of the interior.
Travis Mounts/TSnews City of Goddard officials and members of the Goddard Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon ahead of Monday's open house at the Goddard Community Center. The months-long remodel is now finished. The interior remodel of the Goddard Community Center includes a new, higher ceiling, a refinished floor, new paint, and remodeled kitchen and bathrooms.

CSHS driver's ed announced

CONWAY SPRINGS – Summer driver's education sign-up in Conway Springs will begin on Monday, March 18, and close at the end of the day Friday, March 28. The cost to enroll is $125, which must be paid at the time of signing up.

Goddard turns down duplex request

TSnews GODDARD – During its meeting Monday, the Goddard City Council turned down a request from the developer of the Trails End addition to build more duplexes, and fewer singer family homes, in the development. Trails End is located on the northeast corner of 215th Street West and Pawnee.

Argonia Days will return

TSnews ARGONIA – The annual Argonia Days celebration will make a return in May. That information was shared Monday night during the Argonia City Council meeting.

Members of the Cheney Chamber of Commerce held three ribbon cuttings last week for local businesses that have changed ownership or added to their business. New owners include Dr. Kara Gerber, who now owns Cheney Family Dental (formerly Twietmeyer Family Dentistry), and Gene Francis and Associates (formerly Farm and Home Realty). At Body Forge, Dr. Hope Cramer has expanded services with Cheney Physical Therapy and Sports Performance.

6 Years Ago For the first time, the Haysville Saddle Club will present a PRCA-sanctioned, professional rodeo. The rodeo is scheduled for May 4 and 5, and more than 3,000 people have already used Facebook to express an interest in attending.
