Grant would help Haysville homeowners with repairs

TSnews HAYSVILLE – Low-income homeowners in Haysville may be eligible for financial assistance to repair their houses, if the city is awarded a grant it plans to pursue. The city considered three contracts from the South Central Kansas Economic Development District (SCKEDD) at Monday’s city council meeting.

GP to help senior center apply for grant

TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – During the Garden Plain City Council meeting on March 7, the city council agreed that the city will help the Garden Plain Senior Center to pursue government grant funding. In a memorandum, city administrator Kelly McElroy explained that Garden Plain's senior center is organized as a private nonprofit, a status that in past years has made it ineligible to receive Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding.

Eisenhower educator earns Horizon award

GODDARD – One of the top new educators in Kansas is located at Eisenhower Middle School. Elizabeth Toribio, a seventh- and eighthgrade special education teacher, has been named as one of eight Horizon Award winners in Region 4 of Kansas.

Haysville youth to compete for Miss Kansas’ Teen crown

Miss Kansas’ Teen 2024 will be crowned this Saturday at the 20th anniversary of the Miss Kansas’ Teen Competition. The Miss Kansas Organization will welcome 14 delegates from Kansas to the competition, which will take place at the iconic B-29 Doc Hangar in Wichita.

CHENEY – Barton Community College has named 245 students to the president's list and 314 students to the dean’s list for the fall 2023 semester. Keegan O'Shea of Cheney was named to the president's list.
