Editor’s note: As this week’s TSnews went to press Tuesday night, news broke that the Kansas Senate and House of Represenatives had approved an incentive package to cover up to 70 percent of the cost of new stadiums.

GODDARD – The Goddard Chamber of Commerce had a busy day last Thursday, first hosting a luncheon meeting and then a ribbon cutting for The Dam Jam Music Festival later that evening. The Dam Jam was one of the sponsors for last Thursday’s monthly Chamber luncheon, along with Iron Insurance Partners.

Kansas FFA recently welcomed four new chapters to the association. Garden Plain FFA was among the chapters officially added to the list of Kansas FFA chapters.

Rosenhagen wins awards

GODDARD – The council will add a third regular meeting each month to be held at noon on the fourth Thursday of each month. The expectation is that the meetings would last no more than an hour, and would start July 23.

CHENEY – The Cheney City Council has rescheduled its regular July meeting. The council will move its meeting to 5 p.m.

CLEARWATER – Starting in July, senior swims will return to the Clearwater Aquatic Center. This highly-requested event is for seniors ages 55 and above to enjoy the pool from Monday to Thursday.

CHENEY – Isabel's Patnry will be offering food pickup this Thursday, both at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Mount Vernon by Cheney Lake, and in the parking lot at Cheney Middle School.

CHENEY – The Sedgwick County Fair is looking for contestants for next month’s Tom Northcutt BBQ Competition at the Fair. Registration will take place on Friday, July 12, from 7 to 8 p.m. The entry fee is $20 per team for side pot, and $120 per team for pork butt, ribs, brisket and dessert.

GODDARD – An outdoor movie night will take place this Friday at Linear Park in Goddard. The movie, “Jumanji,” will begin at sundown.
