Staff report TSnews The weekly TSnews is the winner of 21 awards in the 2024 Kansas Press Association Awards of Excellence. Individual newspapers were notified of their awards on April 8.

The Kansas Wheat Commission reports on its website that there are six varieties of wheat grown in the United States. Those include hard red winter, hard white, soft red winter, soft white, hard red spring and durum.

TSnews GODDARD – A public meal program for seniors age 60 and older is coming to Goddard. The Goddard city council signed a letter of intent with Aging Projects Inc.

Farmers Co-op members could have a second shot at approving deal TSnews A proposed merger between Farmers Coop Elevator Company, based in Cheney, and Kanza Cooperative Association of Iuka has failed by a single vote. The vote among Farmers Coop members was held Monday in Cheney.

The April winners of the Conway Springs art class competition have been named, and their artwork is now on display in town. Anna Bender is the winner of the staff vote. Her acrylic piece, “Simple Joe,” pictured at far left, is on display at Vintage Bank. The student vote winner is Audrey Davis.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – This Saturday, it is time to party in Haysville. The annual Party in the 060 is back at Riggs Park with live music, food trucks, games and shopping.

TSnews CHENEY – Hope (Gregory) Cramer began developing her interest in sports medicine while a three-sport athlete for the Cheney Cardinals, playing volleyball, basketball and track. She signed with Washburn University to play basketball.

CLEARWATER – Entries are sought for this year's Clearwater Fall Festival button design. Organizers have made the decision to open up the contest to personally designed graphics and vectors as well.

SUMNER COUNTY – Legislative meetings are planned next week in Sumner County, hosted by Sumner County Farm Bureau. Both meetings will be held next Tuesday.
