TSnews The City of Cheney acquired a 2005 Pierce Dash 75-foot aerial quint fire truck from Hutchinson Fire Department on Oct. 10 for $100,000.

TSnews CLEARWATER – During a brief meeting on Oct. 24, the Clearwater City Council heard an update on the digital signboard located at the intersection of Fourth and Ross.

HAYSVILLE – The annual mystery dinner theater improv show, staged by the Haysville Friends of the Library, will take place this Friday and Saturday. The event starts at 6:30 p.m., and doors open at 6 p.m.

Sedgwick County Environmental Resources will host a free household hazardous waste collection event, open to all Sedgwick County residents, at Garden Plain High School on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The Clearwater High School Students Against Drunk Driving (SADD) chapter was named the Outstanding SADD Chapter in Kansas. The trophy was awarded at the ninth annual statewide SADD conference, held at Rock Springs Ranch in October. Attorney General Robert T. Stephan was the master of ceremonies.

Every year, the Haysville Police Department presents one officer with the honor of being named Officer of The Year. Officers from the department vote for their co-worker of choice and the winner is recognized a the annual Haysville Fall Festival. This year’s winner was school resource officer (SRO) Justin Jacks. Jacks began his career with the Newton Police Department in 2009.

October 1968 The instrumental music department is well into another school year. The new room sounds good and the various bands are starting to regain what was lost over the summer.

Through the cooperative efforts of many people in the Argonia community and surrounding areas, a new electric football scoreboard has been purchased and installed on the Argonia athletic field. The scoreboard was purchased from Wichita State University when they installed a new one at Cessna Stadium.
