TSnews GODDARD – The Goddard city council formally approved the city’s 2024 budget at Monday’s meeting after a pair of public hearings. The city had to hold a hearing to adopt a resolution to exceed the revenue neutral rate and a hearing on the budget itself.

TSnews CHENEY – The Cheney City Council approved a few standard yearly items at its meeting on Thursday, Sept. 14.

CONWAY SPRINGS – A new fire truck for fighting certain types of fires has been approved for the Conway Springs Fire Department. At their meeting last week, members of the city council discussed a bid for an RO-Brush Truck that would be used to fight fuel fires, grass fires and back yard fire calls.

CONWAY SPRINGS – The Conway Springs City Council approved the city's budget for 2024 following a public hearing held last Tuesday. The budget for next year does not include any tax increase, and the mill levy will stay the same at 73.196 mills.

Commodity distribution will take place in the next few days in both Cheney and Clearwater. In Cheney, distribution will take place 9-10:30 a.m.

TSnews CLEARWATER – During a brief meeting on Sept. 12, the Clearwater City Council gave final approval to the 1 percent municipal sales tax that was approved by the city's voters on Aug.

Sumner County needs future leaders to fill local elected positions and to lead community, civic and charitable organizations. The Sumner County Leadership Initiative identifies and grows those future Sumner County leaders and provides them with the tools they need to be comfortable stepping into a leadership position that can help sustain and grow our communities and Sumner County.

Next Thursday, the Goddard Puppet Ladies will be performing “Chicken Little” at the Goddard Public Library. The show is free, but all individuals must reserve a ticket because space is limited.

Staff report TSnews GARDEN PLAIN – The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) on Monday rescinded a boil water advisory for the City of Garden Plain public water supply system located in Sedgwick County. The boil order was issued last Friday and remained in effect through the weekend.
