Slate Creek east of town rose until it was four feet above the bridge Friday night. The bridge north of town was submerged and part of grading washed out. By eight o’clock Saturday morning, the east bridge could be crossed.

The Sunflower bowling league finished its season with Argonia Mortuary as the league winner. The team members are Mary Reed, Beverly Cline, Connie Wacker, Nancy Haskins, and Marie Rhodes. Rhea Stephens won individual Hi-30 and individual Hi-10 went to Joan Pelecki. Relna Freeman was the most improved bowler for the year.

Armstrong starts new chapter as book author

HAYSVILLE – Susan Armstrong, a longtime advertising executive and Haysville resident, has turned a page in her career. Armstrong is the author of a new book, “Doomed by Blooms, described as a cozy mystery style.
Author Susan Armstrong is pictured with her red convertible and her dog. Armstrong bears some similarities to Josie Posey, the central character in her debut novel, “Doomed by Blooms.” Armstrong is now writing the second of five books in the series. Contributed photo
