Newspaper wins press awards

Times-Sentinel Newspapers and its weekly newspaper, TSnews, won 11 awards in the 2023 Kansas Press Association Awards of Excellence. The awards were judged by newspaper peers from another state. This year, Missouri journalists, photographers and designers judged the KPA Awards of Excellence entries. TSnews competes in Division V, for newspapers with a weekly circulation beetween 2,201 and 3,500.

Sumner Co. extends burn ban again

WELLINGTON – The Sumner County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday voted to again continue the county-wide burn ban for another week, extending it until noon on April 25. Commissioners cited the ongoing drought conditions in this part of Kansas.

Drug take back is Saturday

HAYSVILLE – A national drug take back event is happening nationally on Saturday. Locally, the Cheney and Haysville police departments are taking part.

Clearwater, Goddard earn Jester Awards

Clearwater and Goddard high school drama participants have earned nominations in the 21st annual Jester Awards. The Jester Awards celebrate excellence in high school musical theater, with nominations in 23 categories including outstanding production, leading performer, stage crew and lobby display.

City Hall has two new staff members

CONWAY SPRINGS – Two new staff members have taken over positions at Conway Springs City Hall in the past few weeks. Back in March, the City Council accepted the resignation of city clerk Courtnie Louia, who has taken another job.
