Body CLEARWATER – Updates are continuing at Clearwater City Park. A new play surface has been installed around the existing playground equipment at the park.

Body Two Sumner County high school students have received $1,000 scholarships from Wheatland Electric Cooperative.

Body CHENEY – The annual summer reading program kick-off block part at the Cheney Public Library will take place on Saturday. The event will include a carnival, as well as plenty of food and drink.

Body TSnews GODDARD – At its meeting Monday evening, the Goddard City Council voted to deny Goddard Galleria developer Dwayne Dugan's request that the city pay half of the cost of some road improvements in the commercial development. The vote to deny was 4-0.

Body CHENEY – Cheney City Council members held a short meeting on May 11, quickly taking care of a limited number of business items.

Body SEDGWICK COUNTY – Sedgwick County Emergency Management (SCEM) is expanding the use of Civic Ready Alerts to include 17 more cities, in addition to the initial test sites of Wichita and Mt. Hope.

Body CONWAY SPRINGS – The Conway Springs City Library is holding sign-ups next week for its summer reading program. The theme is “All Together Now!” The library is taking a community approach to celebrating Conway Springs.

Body On Monday morning at about 8:30 the residence of Fred Callaway, who resides north of the city building, was discovered to be on fire. The house was quickly consumed.

Body Enrollment for Haysville Community Library’s summer reading program begins on Monday, May 22. The program includes activities and programs meant to keep kids reading during their time off from school.

Body Justin Hunt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer Hunt is the valedictorian of the Conway Springs high school graduating class of 1968. He finishes his high school career with a perfect grade point average of 4.0–straight A.
