Sedgwick County Environmental Resources will host a free waste tire collection event for residents and businesses from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Thursday through Saturday, at the Sedgwick County West Yard, 4701 S. West St., Wichita.

CHENEY – An astronomy night will be held this Friday at Cheney State Park. The event is being hosted by the park and by Wichita State University's Club Nova.

GODDARD – A free introduction to vegetable gardening will be held this Saturday at the Goddard Public Library. The class will start at 9:30 a.m.

On Monday, April 10, a ribbon cutting was held at the new footbridge in Dorner Park. The foot bridge was the last project completed by Haysville public works director Randy Dorner, who died unexpectedly in November. The portion of the bike path that runs through the area was officially named Dorner Lane.

A large crowd enjoyed the Junior class play, “The Family Upstairs” presented last Thursday evening under the direction of Miss Vivian Van Matre. The cast consisted of Edward Venings, Elna Mathes, Ilda Copeland, Crawford Hoyt, Gertrude Cline, Lyle Samples, Lenora Travis, Paul Pettigrew, and Majorie Trueblood.
