8 Years Ago Casey Hostetler, an athlete with the Haysville Hornets Special Olympics sports team, has been awarded one of Special Olympics’ highest awards, the Big 12 Female Athlete of the Year award for 2017-2018. Hostetler is a Haysville resident and the daughter of Leonard and Gloria Hostetler, also residents of Haysville.

From 1931 Lowell Redfern, a former Argonia boy who has been assistant manager of the United Stores in Wellington, the past year and a half, has been transferred to manager of the Winfield United Store and assumed his new position on Wednesday. Lowell grew to manhood in Argonia and is a graduate of the Argonia High School.

From November 1936 Joseph G. Gooch, Conway Springs’ 91-yearold Civil War veteran and president of the First National Bank, cast his vote here. Gooch has a record that very few, particularly in the Midwest, can match. Sixty-three years ago, he lived in Belle Plaine and voted there, then moved to this place where he has voted in the same precinct continuously for the last 61 years.

Community input sough for superintendent search

HAYSVILLE – Community input is being sought as the search begins for the new superintendent for Haysville Public Schools. The Kansas Association of Schools Boards, in coordination with USD 261, is conducting an online survey to get input on the characteristics that the community would like to see in the next superintendent.
