Goddard to pursue eminent domain action

GODDARD – The Goddard City Council at its meeting Monday approved an ordinance formally authorizing the city attorney to file condemnation proceedings to obtain easements needed for public utilities in the Goddard City Center utility extension project. The ordinance is one of the procedural steps required by the Kansas Eminent Domain Procedures Act.

Casey's readies for opening

GODDARD – Casey's General Store is readying to open this week in Goddard. The convenience store chain will hold a ribbon-cutting for its newest store, located on 183rd Street West just south of U.S. Highway 54 and across the street from Walmart, at 9 a.m. Friday.

Provider to change for Friendship Meals program

When the new year arrives, there will be a new meal provider for the Friendship Meals and Meals on Wheels program in several local communities. The Central Plains Area Agency on Aging (CPAAA) and provider Everfull have announced a transition of meal services starting on Jan.

Students attend FFA convention

TSnews Two local high schools recently made the trip to Indianapolis to the 98th National Future Farmers of America Convention & Expo, making some great memories – and one chapter also earned some nice recognition. The Cheney High School FFA chapter sent 10 students to Indianapolis and was recognized as a two-star national chapter, while the Clearwater High School FFA chapter also made the memorable trip to Indianapolis.

From the Editor’s Files Why is it that Asian food sounds so good around American holidays? I’m not sure I can answer that question with any real authority, but I can sure take a stab at it. And the reason I’m asking the question is because Kim and I spent Thanksgiving with my youngest daughter Katie and her friends and family in Chicago.

Saturday to bring holiday fun
