Following are results from the Harper County Fair for members of the Argonia Hilltoppers and Moffett Hilltoppers, whose members primarily come from Argonia, Milton and Norwich. The Harper County Fair was held Aug. 6-9 in Harper.

Pedal pull results

Following are the first-, second- and thirdplace winners from the Sumner County Fair Pedal Pull. The top three winners in each age division have the opportunity to compete in the pedal pull at the Kansas State Fair in September.

Derby Informer Even on a global scale, the impact of the DeBruce grain elevator explosion (considered the largest such facility at the time) in Haysville back on June 8, 1998, was felt – and certainly hit close to home in surrounding communities. Larry Simmons and Malissa Paxton, father and daughter, were among those first responders on scene at the explosion – quickly jumping into action.

ARGONIA – City water customers in Argonia could notice low water pressure or pressure fluctuations this Thursday. Scheduled maintenance will be taking place, which could result in temporary low water pressure or fluctuations.

Drive sober or get pulled over

The Kansas Drive To Zero Coalition and law enforcement across the state urge drivers to “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” as increased patrols will be in effect through Sept. 1 ahead of the Labor Day holiday to support this national traffic safety campaign.
