Youth honored for lifesaving effort

TSnews HAYSVILLE – Mayor Russ Kessler on Monday presented a Mayor’s Certificate of Recognition to a Haysville youth who went into action to save a friend in a recent boating accident. This was the first order of business at the monthly city council meeting.

Library closed for update

The Goddard Public Library is getting a new carpet. In order to make this process go much faster and to ensure the safety of staff and patrons, the library will need to be closed for two weeks.

Cheney City Council approves sidewalk projects

CHENEY – During last week's monthly meeting, the Cheney City Council approved a pair of sidewalk projects. Council members voted 5-0 to accept the low bid of $17,901 from South Central Sealing to pour a 6-foot wide sidewalk on the east edge of the Cheney Sports Complex property.

TSnews CHENEY – A singer’s gender identity as non-binary and an upcoming performance at next month’s Sedgwick County Fair became an online controversy over the weekend. The Fair made social media posts at the end of the week promoting all of the upcoming concerts planned for the Fair, which is set to take place July 12-15 at the Sedgwick County Fairgrounds in Cheney.

SKT rebrands to Twin Valley

CLEARWATER – SKT, a Clearwater- based company, was acquired by Twin Valley in April 2021, bringing together the two largest independently owned broadband and communications companies in Kansas. SKT is undergoing a rebrand to Twin Valley, which will be complete later this year.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – People often connect Mc-Connell Air Force Base with Wichita and Derby, the two cities that the base essentially sits between. The base has a regional impact, however, and that has helped the base and its personnel foster relationships with other cities in south-central Kansas, including Haysville.

GARDEN PLAIN – This year's Vintage Market in Garden Plain promises to be bigger and better. This is the third year for the event, and organizers say it has doubled in size from a year ago.
