Cardinals take fifth at State

TSnews PRAIRIE VILLAGE – The Conway Springs Cardinals boys tennis team’s tough regular-season schedule once again paid off with a solid finish at the Class 3-2-1A State tournament last Friday and Saturday at the Harmon Park Tennis Complex. The Cardinals took fifth with 12 points, one point behind fourth-place Cair Paravel Latin and one point ahead of sixthplace Wichita Trinity.

Tigers punch ticket to State

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers will send their full team to the Class 5A State golf tournament after finishing in the top three at Monday’s regional at Smoky Hill Country Club in Salina. The Tigers shot 324 to tie DeSoto for second place.

The Conway Springs Cardinals girls track and field team place first at last week’s meet hosted by Chaparral High School. The Cardinals scored 155 points in their best team performance this season.

TSnews The Goddard Lions baseball team entered this week on a four-game winning streak after taking a pair of games at Arkansas City last Friday, 12-2 in the opener and 8-2 in the nightcap. Last Wednesday, the Lions beat Wichita Northwest 2-0.

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals softball team improved to 17-3 on the season last Thursday as it took a pair from the Conway Springs-Argonia Reds, 6-3 and 12-4, respectively. Last Monday, the Cardinals were swept by El Dorado, 8-0 in the opener and 6-2 in the nightcap.

Colts take second at Derby

The Campus Colts swam to second place at the May 5 Derby Invitational, held at Campus High School. Derby was the clear winner with 451 points.

Cards win regional tennis

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals boys tennis team has made a reputation for playing a tough schedule to prepare for the postseason – and it paid off once again last weekend. The Cardinals won the Class 3-2-1A regional at Conway Springs with 20 points, six points ahead of runner-up Chaparral.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians and Argonia Raiders both headed to Burden to take part in the Central High School track and field meet on April 28. This was a participation meet, so no team scores were kept.
