The Goddard Lions had a good start in their only game last week, taking a 2-1 lead over the Maize South Mavericks in the first half. A pair of goals by the Mavs put the Lions down 3-2 at halftime.
The Eisenhower Tigers picked up their fifth win of the season with a 4-1 victory over the host Campus Colts in Haysville. The Tigers snapped the Colts’ three-game winning streak while extending their own win streak to five games.
The Eisenhower Tigers boys tennis team tied with Winfield for second at the Newton Invitational last Thursday. Eisenhower and Winfield finished with nine points apiece, three points behind tournament champion and host Newton.
The Campus Colts and Eisenhower Tigers were first and second, respectively at last Thursday’s eight-team meet in Haysville. Campus scored 386 points for an 88-point margin of victory.
Eisenhower’s Luke Springer won the Tigers’ home tournament on April 7. He shot 69 for a seven-stroke win, and was the only golfer to break 70. That result helped the Tigers place second with a 317 score, 10 strokes behind champion Maize South. Andover, Augusta and Buhler also had full teams entered in this small tournament.
TSnews The Argonia Raiders placed third out of 14 teams at the Oxford Invitational on April 2. The Raiders racked up 53 points with nine placings in the top six of various events.
TSnews The Garden Plain girls and boys track and field teams started the season at last week’s Paul Schmidt Invitational in Andale. It was a participation meet with unlimited entrees, so no team scores were kept.
The Campus Colts and Eisenhower Tigers swimming and diving teams placed second and third, respectively, on March 26 at Campus High School. Derby beat Campus 277-249 for the team victory.
TSnews Cheney, Clearwater and Conway Springs all started their track and field seasons at Clearwater’s participation meet last Thursday. No team scores were kept, and teams had unlimited entries.
