Cheney tops Garden Plain in rain-delayed CPL battle

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals picked up a fifth straight win over the neighboring Garden Plain Owls, 41-7, on homecoming night last Friday in Cheney. The Cardinals improved to 3-0 this season, while the Owls fell to 1-2 after facing top-ranked and defending champion teams in consecutive weeks.

TSnews The Clearwater Indians, Andale-Garden Plain Indians/Owls and Goddard Lions competed last Thursday at the Buhler Invitational, which was held at Prairie Ridge Cross Country Park in Hutchinson. Garden Plain runners helped the Andale-GP team to a fourth-place finish in the 14-team field.

Campus Colts falter as visiting Salina Central wins

The Salina Central Mustangs defeated the Campus Colts 48-0 last Friday at Colt Stadium, in a game that was called at halftime because of the weather. The Colts fell to 0-3 overall, and are still looking to score their first points of the season.

Golf

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls golf team made the most of playing in its first 18-hole tournament of the season last Thursday as the Cardinals won the Kingman Invitational. Despite playing in record high temperatures and gusty winds, the Cardinals won the tournament with a score of 420, outdistancing their opponents by 27 strokes.

Volleyball

TSnews The Goddard Lions celebrated returning to the volleyball court after an 11-day layoff in the best way imaginable – by winning a tournament. The Lions won all five of their matches last Saturday at the Southeast Volleyball Invitational at Wichita Southeast High School to capture the tournament title and improve to 9-10 on the season.

Titans top Spartans for homecoming victory

TSnews The Argonia-Attica Titans delivered a good allaround performance last Friday, with a 48-24 win over the Cedar Vale-Dexter Spartans on homecoming night in Argonia. Carson Vineyard and Andrew Bennett each scored two first-half touchdowns to help the Titans to a 28-14 halftime lead.
