TSnews The Garden Plain Owls volleyball team turned in one of its better performances last Saturday when the Owls took second at the Douglass invite, winning four of its five matches on the day. Garden Plain defeated Winfield 25-9, 25-19, Augusta 25-23, 25-14, Kansas City Christian 25-12, 25-7 and host Douglass 25-16, 25-9, but lost to Hillsboro 14-25, 25-23, 17-25.

TSnews Logan McKim of Garden Plain placed fourth in the boys varsity 5K race last Thursday at the Goddard Invitational at Lake Afton. Two of his Andale teammates, Jack Cutler and Sam Pavelski, placed second and third as the team beat 11 other squads.

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls golf team got another strong performance from Sydney Chapman as the Lions took seventh at the Andale Invitational Monday at Cherry Oaks Golf Course. The Lions shot a 397, 12 strokes ahead of eighthplace Circle and five behind sixth-place Salina Central.

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys soccer team fought through a pair of tough home games last week, losing 8-0 to Maize South on Sept. 17 and 5-0 to Valley Center on Sept.

Lions come back for homecoming victory

TSnews It took a half and a rain delay for the Goddard Lions’ offense to put up any points, but they found just enough offense to beat the visiting Andover Trojans 14-13 last Friday at Goddard District Stadium. The Trojans found the end zone with a first-quarter touchdown, and then extended their lead to 10-0 with a second-quarter field goal.
