TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls golf team got a nice boost of confidence last Tuesday as it heads into the season’s home stretch when it won the Pretty Prairie Invitational. The Cardinals won the tournament by shooting 200, nine strokes ahead of second-place Mulvane.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys soccer team won a cross-district rivalry game at Goddard on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 3-0.

Cheney will be the site of a Class 3-1A girls golf regional on Monday. The tournament will be at Cherry Oaks Golf Course, which has hosted numerous regional and State tournaments, and hosts annual tournaments for the Cheney and Andale-Garden Plain golf teams.

Cross country teams learned last week which regional meets they will be competing in on Oct. 26. At each regional, the top three boys and girls teams will advance to State meets. In addition, the top 15 individuals not on a qualifying team also will run at State. That makes for 12 teams of five to seven runners plus 60 individuals advancing to each State meet.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls tennis team won a team title at home on Sept. 30.

TSnews The Goddard Lions and the Cheney Cardinals boys cross country teams finished third and fourth, respectively, out of 14 teams at last Thursday’s Halstead Invitational. Southeast of Saline (45 points) and Trinity Catholic (63) were easily the top teams.

TSnews The Campus Colts boys soccer team played at Salina South on Tuesday, Oct. 1, losing 8-0.

TSnews The Campus Colts suffered their toughest loss of the season last Friday, falling 79-7 at the Maize Eagles. The Eagles, who picked up their first win of the season, put up 71 points in the first half while shutting out the Colts.

TSnews The Goddard Lions may not win pretty, but they keep on winning. More importantly, they take pride in their defense-first approach to football.

TSnews Seth Dugan is back. The Garden Plain Owls senior played a key role in the Owls’ 38-14 road win over the previously unbeaten Haven Wildcats.
