TSnews The Goddard Lions boys wrestling team battled through adversity all season – and last Saturday, it paid off in a big way. The Lions had three individual Class 5A State champions and several more who placed high as they won their ninth State title in the last 10 years.

Bowlers head to State

TSnews The Campus Colts and Eisenhower Tigers are sending their girls and boys bowling teams to State, and Cheney qualified its boys team for State for the second time in program history. In addition, individual bowlers from Cheney and Goddard finished as regional champions.

Owls rally past Conway Springs at substate

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team held Conway Springs scoreless in the final period to rally for a 35-28 win over the Cardinals Monday night in the Class 2A substate opener at Conway Springs. Conway Springs led the Owls 28-23 going to the fourth quarter, but did not score a point in the final period as the Owls rallied for the win.

The Cheney Cardinals girls basketball team advanced to the semifinals of the Chaparral 3A substate on Tuesday night, with a 50-38 win over the No. 8 Collegiate Spartans.

Clearwater secures homecourt for substate

TSnews The Clearwater Indians girls basketball team entered last Thursday’s game against Wichita Collegiate needing a win to secure homecourt advantage for this week’s Class 4A substate tournament. Mission accomplished.

AHS girls win at substate

TSnews The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team used a strong second-half performance to pull away for a 39-23 win over Caldwell last Friday in the first round of Class 1A Division II substate play. The Raiders trailed 6-4 after the opening period, but rallied to take a 16-14 lead by halftime.

Cheney girls to Conway Springs in finale

A double-digit lead was enough as the Cheney Cardinals girls basketball team beat the visiting Conway Springs Cardinals 64-48 on Feb. 20, in the regular-season finale for both teams.

Lady Colts see progress

TSnews The Campus Colts girls basketball team lost 55-18 to the visiting Salina Central Mustangs last Friday, putting the wraps on a winless season. The Colts, along with the Wichita West Pioneers, finish as the bottom two teams in Class 6A West and won’t advanced to substate this week.
