Swimmers reach goal

Campus High swimmer Vincent Finley, below, and Eli Winter of Clearwater swim one of the 20 miles they completed over the weekend at the 12th annual Swim to a Wish fundraiser for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. The other swimmers were Campus swimmers Quentin Thomas, Jonah Easterby, Seth Sharon and Jonah Easterby. The six swam 120 miles from Friday afternoon through midday Sunday, including going all night Friday and Saturday. Campus swam alongside teams from Derby and Wichita North last weekend at Glenn Crum Natatorium, while Salina Central and Salina South swimmers held their own event. Wichita Northwest will hold a separate event this coming weekend. As of Monday morning, the event had exceeded its goal of $30,000, with $30,273. Donations can still be made online at https:// secure2.wish.org.

Pair of Owls State-bound

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls wrestling team will send a pair of wrestlers to State after placing two in the top three at last Saturday’s Class 3-1A regional at Eureka. “I’m very proud of all the Garden Plain wrestlers this season,” Garden Plain coach Travis Daerr said.

Three Colts make 6A State

TSnews The Campus Colts boys wrestling qualified three for the State tournament with strong performances at last weekend’s Class 6A West regional at Wichita North High School. “It feels really good to send three to State,” Campus boys wrestling coach Nicholas Dickson said.

Two Cardinals are State bound

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals boys wrestling team will send a pair of wrestlers to the State tournament after they each finished in the top four at last Saturday’s Class 4A regional at Andale. Leading the way for the Cardinals was Parker McClellan at 144 pounds, who pinned two of his first three opponents to make it to the finals.

Tigers send two wrestlers to State

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys wrestling team will send three to this weekend’s Class 5A State tournament after placing three wrestlers in the top eight at the Class 5A West regional last Friday and Saturday at Arkansas City Leading the way for the Tigers is Braedyn Blasi, who took third at 144 pounds to earn a return trip to the State tournament. More than that, Blasi overcame a quarterfinal loss by winning four matches in a row, including pinning three of his opponents.

Lions win regional, send 11 to State

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys wrestling team took a huge step toward winning its ninth State wrestling title in the last 10 years last weekend when it won the Class 5A West regional in Arkansas City and qualified 11 wrestlers for the State tournament. The Lions won the regional title with 207.5 points, 44 more than second-place Great Bend and 46 more than thirdplace Andover.
The Goddard Lions will return to the Class 5A State wrestling tournament with 11 boys and one girl. The boys team is looking for its ninth State championship in the past 10 years. Contributed photo

TSnews The Clearwater Indians boys wrestling team will send a pair of wrestlers to State after they each finished third at last Saturday’s Class 4A regional at Andale. Representing the Indians at State will be Dylan Hanna (138 pounds) and Cooper Woodruff (285).

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls basketball team traveled to Eisenhower on Friday, Feb. 16, and won 44-41, narrowly frustrating the Tigers’ latest attempt to shake off a losing streak that started on Jan.

Raiders rally past Caldwell

TSnews The only thing better than the Argonia Raiders boys basketball team rallying for a win was doing it against an in-county rival. The Raiders trailed Caldwell by six points at halftime last Tuesday, but used a strong second half to beat the Bluejays 47-42.
