Clearwater takes fifth at Mid-America Classic

TSnews The Clearwater Indians girls basketball team shook off an opening-round loss to win a pair of nailbiters and take fifth last week at the Mid-America Classic in McPherson. After dropping last Thursday’s opener 52-30 to the host Bullpups, the Indians downed Wichita Northwest 48-47 the next day, then beat Andover Central 54-53 in last Saturday’s fifth-place game.

Conway Springs takes fifth at Mulvane

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team shook off a loss in the first round of the Mulvane Wildcat Classic to ultimately take fifth in the annual event. After falling to Wichita Collegiate 35-31 in last Thursday’s tournament opener, the Cardinals downed Winfield 33-30 the next night and then beat Wichita North 58-43 last Saturday in the fifth-place game.

Lady Tigers go 2-2 in busy week

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball team was busy on the hardwood last week, playing a road game at Salina Central on Tuesday, then traveling to Newton for a midseason tournament. They finished the four-game, six-day stretch with a 2-2 record, plus valuable experience against some high-quality teams, according to Tigers head coach Matt Brumley.

Colts still looking for first win
