Golfers make cuts at State golf tournaments

All five local State-qualifying golfers made the cut for the second day of golf at their respective tournaments. Two Eisenhower golfers and one Goddard golfer were in the Class 5A State tournament field at Carey Park in Hutchinson.

Campus rails Newton for second win of season

Quarterback Drake McPherson delivered possibly his best performance of the season as the Campus Colts went on the road last Friday and beat the Newton Railers football team 30-20. The Colts never trailed as they earned their second victory of the season.

Outlaws shoot down Titans in 8-man battle

The South Sumner Outlaws scored 22 second- quarter points as they dropped the Argonia-Attica Titans 50-28 in last Friday’s football game in Caldwell. That second-quarter outburst was the primary difference in the game.

Owls to face Eagles for district title

The Garden Plain Owls football team will host the Kingman Eagles this Friday with the championship of Class 2A District 6 on the line. Both teams are 6-1 overall, 3-0 in district games and plus-63 on points.

Wamego takes down Clearwater

The Clearwater Indians football team struggled to score in last Friday’s 45-10 loss at the Wamego Red Raiders. The loss dropped the Indians to 2-5 this season.

Lions go on the road for critical win over Mustangs

Micah Johnson carried the Goddard Lions football team to an important 42-35 road win against a tough Salina Central Mustangs team. Johnson ran for 245 yards and scored five touchdowns, including one on a fourth quarter touchdown return that won the game for the Lions.

Conway Springs runs all over Inman for win

With 399 yards of rushing, the Conway Springs Cardinals football team ran all over the host Inman Teutons in last Friday’s 37-8 victory. Inman managed just 194 yards of offense, with 165 coming on the ground.
