The Clearwater Indians volleyball team could not have picked a better way to tune up for its most important stretch of the season than the Indians did last Saturday. Clearwater won its own Clearwater Invitational, winning all five of its matches at the tournament.

Defense, special teams power Titans’ victory

TSnews A smothering defense and some key special teams plays helped the Argonia-Attica Titans to a 57-0 blowout victory over the Udall Eagles in a football game that ended at halftime. During Udall’s first eight drives of the game, the Eagles managed just two first downs – one on a Titans’ penalty.

Tigers get a win on homecoming night

TSnews Quarterback Derek Morgan threw four touchdown passes – three of them to Carter Pabst – as the Eisenhower Tigers beat the visiting Arkansas City Bulldogs 37-21 on homecoming night in Goddard. The Tigers’ win improves their record to a perfect 7-0.

Indians fall to Swathers in OT

TSnews The Clearwater Indians football team came up just short in last Friday’s 28-21 overtime home loss to the Hesston Swathers. The Indians lost a 10-point lead in this game, and then engineered an 11-point comeback to force overtime.

Tough week for local teams

TSnews Last week was tough for local boys soccer teams, with a 2-0 Eisenhower win at Salina Central on Oct. 3 the only bright spot.

Cross Country

TSnews Cheney girls took first place at their home invitational last Thursday. Several Cheney girls placed in the top 10 with Brin Bergkamp placing fourth, Kinslee Ingram taking seventh, and Addison Bearly coming in ninth, followed by Taelyn Hoch bringing up the 10th spot.

It was a week of highs and lows for the Stateranked Clearwater Indians volleyball team. Ranked third in Class 4A, the Indians picked up their 25th win of the season last Saturday in the semifinals of the Council Grove Invitational before seeing their 17-game winning streak end in the championship match.

Golf

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers golf team will be in the field at the Class 5A State tournament in Hutchinson next week, as will the Goddard Lions’ Sydney Chapman. Chapman had the best overall finish from either team, tying for third place with a round of 84.
