Conway Springs comes back for district win

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals opened district play with a wild 40-34 win over the visiting Medicine Lodge Indians in last Friday’s football game. The Cardinals jumped out to a 21-0 lead, thanks in part to Medicine Lodge turnovers, but the Indians climbed their way back into the game, eventually taking a 34-33 over the Cardinals early in the fourth quarter.

Owls race past Roadrunners in district opener

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls football team recorded its biggest win of the season last Friday, scoring a 49-0 home win over the Chaparral Roadrunners. The Owls had this game in the bag by halftime, and were able to play a number of younger players in the second half.

TSnews Saying the Argonia Raiders volleyball team had a great week just might be an understatement. Not only did the Raiders win the Central High School Volleyball Invitational at Burden last Saturday – defeating Attica in the championship to do so – but Argonia also handed Flinthills its first loss last Tuesday in a triangular at Flinthills.

Lions pound out 400 yards to beat Bulldogs

TSnews There was no rescuing the Arkansas City Bulldogs as the visiting Goddard Lions pounded out 423 rushing yards in last Friday’s 45-13 football win. The Lions’ offensive game is almost totally ground-based.

Cheney continues winning ways

TSnews The No. 2-ranked Cheney Cardinals are playing some of the best football in Class 3A, and they kept their undefeated start to the season going with last Friday’s 49-0 road victory at the Pratt Greenbacks.

Visiting Hornets sting Colts for a league loss

TSnews The Campus Colts, coming off their first win of the season the previous week, should some good things in last Friday’s football game, but ultimately lost a 41-14 game to the visiting Valley Center Hornets. The Colts got on the scoreboard first thanks to an 11-yard touchdown run by Andrue Klitzing.

Cross Country

TSnews Several area schools competed at the Goddard Invitational last Thursday. The Goddard High Varsity boys placed first as a team on their home turf with a score of 68.
