Argonia girls blaze into postseason

TSnews The Argonia Raiders girls basketball team enters the postseason on a 17-game winning streak after rolling to a 51-19 win last Friday at West Elk. Tori Morrison had a big night with 19 points, seven rebounds and a pair of steals, while Kara Jones added 11 points and four steals, Emmah Phillips had nine points and Autumn Coleman finished with seven points, seven assists and 10 steals on the night.

Raiders clinch winning season

TSnews It has been a long time since the Argonia Raiders boys basketball team has finished with a winning record – until this season. With a 59-49 win at West Elk Friday and a 6236 win in Monday’s Class 1A Division II substate opener against Ashland, the Raiders now are 12-10 on the season and assured of finishing with their first winning season in many years.

Clearwater girls turn hat trick

TSnews The Clearwater Indians girls basketball team capped a perfect week in the win column last Friday by taking a 53-40 win against Wichita Collegiate last Friday – the Indians’ third win of the week. “It was a big week for us – three games and we were fortunate enough to come away with three victories,” Clearwarer coach Maygan Doll said.

Conway Springs hot going into postseason

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team enters the postseason on a roll after downing Medicine Lodge 59-31 last Friday to wrap up the regular season. “The girls have finished the season with two great wins,” Conway Springs coach Brett Gunderson said.

Lady Owls roll to big victories

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team won at Chaparral last Friday, beating the Roadrunners 50-36. Chaparral opened the game with a trio of 3-point baskets, and quickly took a 12-5 lead over the Owls.

Wins give Cheney boys CPL title

TSnews With two wins last week, the Cheney Cardinals won the Central Plains League boys championship. The Cardinals finished league play and the regular season with a 67-40 win at the Douglass Bulldogs last Friday.

Campus girls win 6A regional

TSnews The Campus girls will go into the Class 6A State bowling tournament as favorites to defend their title, following their regional victory on Monday at Liberal. The Colts bowled 3009 as a team, beating fellow State qualifiers Wichita Northwest (2844) and Derby (2449).

Patterson leads USD 265 swimmers at State

TSnews Dylan Patterson added to his medal collection, winning gold in both of his individual races at last week’s Class 5-1A State swimming and diving championship, held in Lenexa’s at the Shawnee Mission School District Aquatic Center. Patterson was the winner in both the 200-yard and 500-yard freestyle races.
