TSnews A very challenging December schedule for an inexperienced Garden Plain Owls girls basketball team seems to have helped forge the Owls into a tough team in 2026. The Owls beat visiting Medicine Lodge 58-39 last Friday for their sixth consecutive win, with all of those wins coming this month.

GHS girls split home games

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls basketball team split two home games last week, dropping a 71-34 decision to Maize South on Jan. 13 before bouncing back to beat Newton 59-43 on Jan.

Conway Springs girls win 10th in a row

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team finds itself on a 10game winning streak after the Cardinals rolled to a 61-30 win at Rose Hill last Friday. The host Rockets led 10-8 after the opening period, but Conway Springs caught fire from there, taking a 26-17 lead by halftime and increasing their lead to 48-27 by the start of the fourth quarter.

Campus wins at Andover

TSnews The Campus Colts boys basketball team won for the third time in four games with a 61-58 road victory at the Andover Central Jaguars on Friday night. The Colts’ 22-16 lead at end of the first quarter was the largest lead they held after any quarter, in a game that was close throughout.

Cheney girls and boys sweep at Kingman

TSnews The Cheney girls and boys swept the host Kingman Eagles last Friday. The girls blew out the Eagles 54-14, rebounding well from the previous Monday’s 20-point home loss to Conway Springs.

Tigers find some success in busy weekend

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers wrestling team had a busy weekend last Friday and Saturday, but also found some success along the way. Eisenhower’s boys wrestled at the Newton Tournament of Champions, while the girls headed to Wichita West for the Best of the West tournament, with several wrestlers placing in the top eight for both.

EHS-GHS swims to sixth at Andover

TSnews The Eisenhower and Goddard swim team placed sixth in the 15team Andover invitational, which took place last Friday (diving) and Saturday (swimming). The Tigers scored 159 points, edging Independent by a single point.

Eck, Tatom win titles for GP

TSnews The Garden Plain Owls wrestling team got some impressive performances at last weekend’s Halstead invite, with two Owls winning titles. On the boys side, Nate Eck (106 pounds) and Carter Tatom (165) both won titles, with Tatom winning all four of his matches by fall and Eck winning all five of his matches either by fall or technical fall.

Veach takes second at Halstead for Cardinals

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals wrestling team made the trip to Harvey County last weekend to compete at the Halstead invite, with three wrestlers finishing in the top six. On the boys side, Colton Veach (165 pounds) took second, losing to Garden Plain’s Carter Tatom in the finals, while Kameron Totty (106) won a pair of matches and finished sixth.
