Tigers 7th at 5A State

The Eisenhower Tigers girls golf team ended its season on Kansas’ biggest stage as it took seventh at the Class 5A State tournament earlier this week at Emporia. As a team, the Tigers finished seventh with a score of 382 and missed the second-day cut, though four Tigers golfers made the individual cut, led by Aubrey Hardtarfer, who tied for 22nd after carding a 186.

TSnews The Conway Springs girls tennis team capped a banner season with a team runner-up finish at the Class 3-1A State tournament in Salina, scoring 36 points to place second behind Ellsworth. The Cardinals’ doubles teams carried the banner: Morgan Koester/Sadie Koester reached the final and finished second, while Madelyn Stevens/Hayley Pauly battled back for third.

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls golf team wrapped up a strong season earlier this week when it finished sixth at the Class 3-2-1A State tournament in Salina. As a team, the Cardinals shot a 737, one stroke behind Columbus for fifth and eight strokes behind fourth-place Silver Lake.

TSnews The undefeated Sterling Black Bears, looking like the best team in District 7 and one of the best teams in all of Class 1A, beat the host Conway Springs Cardinals 46-20 last Friday. The Cardinals’ playoff hopes took another hit as they lost their fifth straight game and remained winless in district play.

TSnews The Argonia Raiders continued their blazing run through the high school volleyball season as they swept through the South Central Border League Tournament last Saturday to bring home the championship trophy. The Raiders downed West Elk 25-7, 25-10, Sedan 25-8, 25-8, Caldwell 25-14, 25-12 and Cedar Vale/Dexter 25-6, 25-8 to reach the tournament finals.

Colts shut out at Hutch

TSnews The host Hutchinson Salthawks cruised to a 42-0 win over the Campus Colts last Friday at Gowans Stadium. The Colts’ offense was kept in check by the Salthawks’ defense, gaining just 58 offensive yards.

Central Christian shuts down Titans

TSnews The Hutchinson Central Christian Cougars stayed undefeated with a 36-0 shutout win over the Argonia-Attica Titans in last Friday’s football game in Attica. It was the first district loss and first regular-season loss for the Titans (4-2, 2-1), who lost a Week 2 non-district game in overtime.

Indians get critical district win
