Teams run at big Wild Wind race

Body TSnews Four local schools competed at Wichita Trinity’s Wild Wind XC Festival on Saturday in Wichita Twenty-two teams competed in the boys varsity race. Eisenhower had the best finish, placing ninth.

Owls ground Eagles for control of District 5

Body TSnews The Garden Plain Owls football team took control of Class 2A District 5 in last Friday’s road football game, a 37-0 shutout of the Kingman Eagles. The Owls are now 3-0 in the district, the lone undefeated team in the district.

Goddard Lions overcome slow start, Ark City comeback

Body TSnews Last Thursday’s 34-27 home win by the Goddard Lions over the Salina South Cougars was by no means pretty, but the Lions showed resiliency in finding a way to win. The winless Cougars took a 7-0 lead with a pick-6 interception to begin the second quarter.

Cheney stays in district hunt with Chappy win

Body TSnews A 34-7 road win at the Chaparral Roadrunners last Friday has the Cheney Cardinals football team still in the hunt for a Class 3A District 7 championship. The Cardinals took a 7-0 first-half lead on a 35-yard touchdown pass to Nolan Durr on the game’s opening drive.

Cardinals win substate title, Owls eighth

Body TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls golf team will take a lot of momentum into next week’s State tournament after winning the Class 3-2-1A substate at Larned on Monday. Cheney won the title with a score of 401, three strokes ahead of runner- up Larned.

Tennis players head to State tournaments

Body TSnews Girls tennis teams in the TSnews coverage area wrapped up their regular seasons and headed to regionals last week. All four teams are sending players to State tournaments.

Trojans tame the visiting Tigers

Body TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers’ suffered another tough loss, falling 35-7 at the Andover Trojans, and dropping to 1-4 this season. It’s a tough spot to be in for the Tigers, who finished the past two seasons just one game shy of State title appearances.
