Cheney’s playoff run stopped by undefeated Rock Creek

TSnews The Rock Creek Mustangs edged the visiting Cheney Cardinals 14-7 in last Friday’s Class 3A playoff game. The Cardinals had a chance to tie or win late in the game, but were kept out of the end zone, and ended their season with a 7-4 record that included two playoff victories.

Salina Central wins again, ends Goddard’s season

TSnews A pair of Goddard Lions’ turnovers helped the Salina Central Mustangs to a big second half and a 62-32 win over the Lions in Friday’s Class 5A football playoff game. The Lions also lost starting quarterback Brock Sullivan to injury and he missed most of the game.

Flores boots Cheney into next round of playoffs

Garden Plain beats Beloit to avenge last year’s loss

Clearwater finishes out football season with big win

TSnews The Clearwater Indians jumped out to a big lead in last Friday’s home win over the Goodland Cowboys, going on to win 48-0 and finishing the football season with a 3-6 record. The Indians gained 363 yards of offense, while limiting the Cowboys to just 93 yards.

Goddard wins with second-half comeback

TSnews Trailing 17-14 at halftime, the Goddard Lions scored 13 unanswered points to beat the Maize South Mavericks 27-24 in last Thursday’s Class 5A playoff football game at Goddard District Stadium. Getting a first-round playoff win was a big goal this season for the Lions, who had lost at home the past four seasons as the higher seed.
