Aviators soar early

TSnews The Haysville Aviators summer collegiate league baseball team won three games in a four-contest stretch to enter this week with a 5-2 record. The Aviators beat the Wellington Heat 10-9 last Wednesday and the Kingman Islanders 18-2 the next night, then split a doubleheader on Sunday with the Newton Rebels, taking the opener 13-4 but dropping the nightcap 10-1.

Fresh off of winning the Jayhawk League’s firsthalf title last season and making it to the National Baseball Congress World Series later that summer, the Haysville Aviators are off to a strong start this season.

Curve off to hot start

The Kansas Curve summer collegiate league baseball team is off to a strong start. The Curve were undefeated after last weekend, downing the Bartlesville (Okla.) Indians 9-2 last Tuesday at Eck Stadium in Wichita, then beating the Indians 7-0 three days later in Bartlesville.

Lions earn pair of medals at State

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys track and field team took a large group of athletes to last weekend’s Class 5A State meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, medaling in two events at State. Leading the way was Connor Koonce, who took seventh in the pole vault with a vault of an even 12 feet, while the 4x100 relay team of Jaden Cohens, Erik Olivas, Kyler Mashaney and Kaiden Stroot finished eighth with a time of 43.04 seconds.

Frost earns medal for Colts

TSnews The Campus Colts boys and girls track teams competed in four events at last weekend’s Class 6A State meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita – and one Colts athlete brought home a medal. Kayla Frost, the lone girls competitor at State for Campus to finish, took seventh in the triple jump to lead her team at Cessna.

Tigers take second at State golf tourney

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys golf team wrapped up one of the best – if not the best – season in school history last Wednesday when it took second at the Class 5A State golf tournament in Emporia. The Tigers carded a 581, 29 strokes behind State champion St.

Schrant medals for Cardinals

The Cheney Cardinals and Garden Plain Owls boys golf teams wrapped up their seasons at the Class 3A State tournament in Garden City last Wednesday – and one Cardinals player came home with a State medal.

Conway Springs wins five State medals

TSnews The Conway Springs girls track and field team took a group to last weekend’s Class 2A State meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, and five of them came home with medals. Leading the way was Lairen Pauly, who took fifth in the triple jump, while Jade Erker took seventh in the 100 and Delaney Jones took seventh in the long jump.

Cardinals medal in six events at State

The Cheney Cardinals boys and girls track teams medaled in six events – three girls and three boys – to wrap up a strong season last weekend at the Class 3A State meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita.
