Indians take fourth at State

Body
TSnews SALINA – The Clearwater Indians did not get the happy ending they wanted at the Class 4A State tournament, but that does not tarnish what turned out to be a great season for the Indians on the softball diamond. Clearwater finished fourth at State, opening State play last Thursday by downing defending Class 4A champion Wamego 4-2 – and avenging a 17-inning loss to the Raiders from last season’s State tournament.

Kitt grabs gold in shot put

Body
TSnews One of the best known clichés is “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.” Eisenhower Tigers girls shot putter Stella Kitt epitomized that at last weekend’s Class 5A State track and field meet at Cessna Stadium in Wichita, overcoming a slow start in the event to win the State championship with a throw of an even 41 feet. After her first two throws were shorter than her season best, Kitt regrouped on her last preliminary throw to earn a spot in the final round, where she ended up making her State-winning throw.
