Miss Irene Box, a student at Wichita State University, was heard on the program “Mrs. Newman Presents” over KFG last Sunday evening. Miss Box sang a group of solos and was featured with other artists of the McDowell Music Club of Wichita, which sponsored the half-hour program.

9 Years Ago On Monday, April 10, a ribbon cutting was held at the new footbridge in Dorner Park. The footbridge was the last project completed by Haysville public works director Randy Dorner, who died unexpectedly in November.

CHENEY – Drama and forensics students will be showcased at a special event next Tuesday at Cheney High School. Students will present the one-act play, “Dinner with the MacGuffins.” In addition, there will be numerous presentations by this year’s forensics State Championship qualifiers.

(WEC) will host this year’s annual meeting on April 22 at the Great Bend Events Center, 3111 10th St., in Great Bend and in seven other remote locations across its service territory. TSnews CHENEY – At last week's meeting, the Cheney City Council approved a major street reconstruction project covering a total of four blocks. Council members approved spending $279,840 to tear out and replace Second Avenue, from Main Street west to Filmore Street.

ARGONIA – The Argonia City Council approved spending $7,850 for the purchase and shipping of a new motor and pump for the municipal swimming pool. The purchase was made during Monday night's regular meeting.
