GODDARD – The Goddard City Council approved an ordinance at its April 7 meeting establishing a revised set of bylaws for the Goddard Senior Center Citizens Advisory Board. They clarify that the city has administrative oversight of the senior center.

CLEARWATER – This Saturday is the annual citywide cleanup in Clearwater. All items to be collected need to be set at the curb prior to 7 a.m.

CHENEY – Linndy Frieden, the head coach of the Cheney Cardinals boys basketball team, is stepping away from coaching temporarily and will take off the 2026-27 season to focus on health. His resignation was on the USD 268 Board of Education meeting on Monday.

The National Museum of American History, Flag Hall, was the location for Thaddeus L. Ronnau to be promoted to the rank of Colonel in the United States Air Force. The American flag that flew over Fort McHenry and was the inspiration for Francis Scott Key to write the Star-Spangled Banner was the backdrop for the United States Military Oath of Office.

CLEARWATER – Jason Crist has been named as the new head boys basketball coach for the Clearwater High School Indians. The hiring was approved at Monday's USD 264 Board of Educa-tion meeting.

A Clearwater mother has been charged with murder in the August 2025 death of her 15-month-old child. The charge was announced late Monday afternoon by the Sedgwick County Sheriff ’s Office following the completion of its investigation.

Fr. Dan Duling, pastor of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, is excited about the doors that the church’s new discipleship center can open up for the church and in the neighboring communities – and he’s not alone.
