Jump Start opens new store in Cheney

CHENEY – Wichita- based convenience store chain Jump Start added to its growing portfolio of Kansas stores when it opened in Cheney on Friday, May 22. A company employee said the Cheney location brings the company’s number of stores to 40, and it expects to be at 50 stores before the end of this year.

Conway Springs City Council hears updates on streets

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – The big list of street projects in Conway Springs is well underway, and city officials are receiving regular updates on how things are going. At their meeting last week, members of the City Council got updates from Darin Neufeld with EBH, the engineering firm handling the work, on three of those projects: East Spring Street, the grocery store drive entrance, and now the gas company is starting its work on Parallel and West Spring Street.

Goddard breezes through short city council agendas

Colts, Tigers chase state titles

TSnews WICHITA – Calling the Campus Colts softball team’s postseason run impressive might just be an understatement. The Colts won nine games in a row to make it all the way to last Saturday’s Class 6A State championship game against Gardner-Edgerton at Wilkins Stadium.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers will look back on the 2026 soccer season with great pride, as the Tigers put together their best-ever season in the program’s 13 years. The Tigers finished the season as the Class 5A State runner- up.

Clearwater council opposes solar project planned north of city

TSnews CLEARWATER – The Clearwater City Council on May 26 adopted a resolution opposing a large-scale solar project proposed just north of the city, formally asking Sedgwick County to weigh the development’s effect on Clearwater’s room to grow. Resolution 7-2026 targets the TED Renewable Energy development, also known as the Branch Line Solar project — one of two solar farms under review in the county north of Clearwater.

Conway Springs to host Biking Across Kansas camp

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – The 2026 edition of Biking Across Kansas will come through Conway Springs next week. The annual event covers 550 miles, and gets underway this Friday with a short ride from the Colorado-Kansas border to Johnson City.
