TSnews YOUR KITCHEN – There are a number of things that contribute to hosting a successful Thanksgiving dinner. One of those is to make sure your bird doesn’t make your guests ill.

TSnews Darren Martin didn’t start running marathons until he was almost 50, but it has literally taken him all around the globe since then. Martin, a Garden Plain native, did not run his first marathon until his 49th birthday, but the love of running has taken him around the world since then.

In last week’s TSnews, we incorrectly reported the results of the USD 359 Argonia Board of Education election. Three seats were open, with four candidates running.

GODDARD – A jury in Sedgwick County came back with a guilty verdict in the case of a shooting in the Walmart parking lot in Goddard. The shooting last year left Anakin Zehring paralized.

HAYSVILLE – A Wichita man is likely headed to prison in the shooting death of a Haysville resident. James Raymond Standefer, 37, has pleaded guilty to second-degree reckless murder, the Wichita Eagle reported.

CHENEY – Isabel’s Pantry, the food pantry operated by St. Rose Catholic Church in Mount Vernon, will be open next week on Thursday.

CLEARWATER – Culinary students at Clearwater High School are offering a dinner pick-up this Thursday. Students are prepping 250 servings of chicken fried rice.

SEDGWICK COUNTY – Starting this Thursday, a portion of the Prairie Sunset Trail between Goddard and Garden Plain will be closed. The closure will be between 231st Street West and 263rd Street West, and is expected to last for three to four days, according to the Prairie Travelers organization.
