The Kansas Curve have compiled a 2-2 record since a July 4 game at Wellington, where the Heat beat the Curve 5-4. The Curve returned home for two weekend games.
Nine young athletes from the area competed at the Region 16 Track and Field district qualifier in Yukon, Okla., on June 22-25 in hopes of qualifying for the AAU Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa, July 29- Aug. 5.
The Kansas State High School Activities Association executive board has announced some changes to the postseason structure in football, wrestling and baseball. Starting in 2024, State football championship games will take place at just three sites, with three games played at each site on Thanksgiving weekend.
The Haysville Aviators went into the all-star break with a series win over the Kansas Cannons of Augusta. As reported last week, the Aviators won 9-1 on June 26 in Haysville.
The Kansas Curve broke a four-game losing streak with a 12-2 road win at the Valley Center Mud Daubers. Already leading 4-1, the Curve broke loose for 8 runs in the top of the sixth inning.
The Haysville Aviators started this week with two straight victories, and have gone 3-2 over the last five games. The Aviators won 14-9 at the Derby Twins on Saturday.
Harvey County Now HALSTEAD – Halstead resident and 2023 Goddard Eisenhower graduate Tyner Horn hasn’t yet succeeded beyond high school, but the 2023 5A Pitcher of the Year has had the attention of Major League Baseball scouts for years and is projected to be drafted as high as the fifth to seventh rounds. As a position player, Horn had a great season.
