TSnews The Campus Colts girls wrestling team concluded its best season yet when it had two wrestlers finish in the top five at the Class 6A State tournament last weekend in Overland Park. Leading the way was Brooklyn Burling, who took fourth at 235 pounds to record the best season ever by a Campus female wrestler.

McClellan makes it to quarterfinals for Cardinals

TSnews Cheney Cardinals wrestler Parker McClellan wrapped up his senior season with an appearance on the state’s biggest stage when he competed last weekend at the Class 4A State tournament in Salina. McClellan (150 pounds) won his first match at State when he downed Eudora’s Newt Schreiner by technical fall, but lost in sudden-victory overtime to Trace Metcalf in the quarterfinals.

Campus girls go to State as regional bowling champs

TSnews The Campus Colts girls bowling team entered the season back in January as a favorite to win another State title, and they remain a favorite following last week’s Class 6A regional championship. The Colts bowled 3360 and finished as the best of 12 teams.

TSnews A struggling Douglass Bulldogs girls basketball team suffered a big loss at Cheney, as the Cardinals won 53-15 last Friday on Heart to Heart winter homecoming night. The Cardinals’ defense took full advantage of the Bulldogs’ offensive issues, holding them to just 4 points over three of the game’s quarters.

Eisenhower girls lose pair of games

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers girls basketball game lost two games last week, losing a close one on Monday versus Salina Central, 54-46, then getting overwhelmed by Andover, 73-38 on Friday. Versus Salina Central, the Tigers had the game tied at 40-40 at one point in the second half.

Conway Springs gets past Medicine Lodge in CPL battle

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals girls basketball team overcame a seven- point halftime deficit to rally for a 41-36 win last Friday night at Medicine Lodge. The Cardinals trailed 20-13 at the intermission, but cut the Indians’ lead to 28-24 by the start of the fourth quarter.

Indians fall to Collegiate

TSnews The Clearwater Indians boys basketball team fell into an early hole and never could recover as the Indians lost 75-43 at Wichita Collegiate last Friday. The host Spartans led 25-10 after the opening period and held a 37-23 lead over Clearwater at the intermission.
