TSnews CHENEY – Cherry Oaks Golf Course will soon allow private golf carts at the course. Last Wednesday, the Cheney City Council voted to allow golfers to bring their own carts to the golf course.

TSnews GODDARD – The city council at its meeting Monday denied a rezoning request that would have added more duplexes in the city. MKEC Engineering submitted an application to rezone approximately 47 acres at the northeast corner of 183rd Street West and Maple, from the current zoning of single family residential (R1) to high density residential (R4).

Esther Furches readies for new fight with positive attitude TSnews Last December, Esther (Farrell) Furches of Cheney got some very good news. She was declared cancer free, after having battled cervical cancer.

Temperatures in February were below average across much of Kansas, the National Weather Service office in Wichita reported in its monthly climate packet. In Wichita, the average temperature was 32.5 degrees, which is 5.1 degrees below average.

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – The USD 356 Conway Springs Board of Education has taken its first step following the news that longtime superintendent Clay Murphy will retire at the end of this school year. Murphy officially presented his resignation to the BOE at the Feb.

The Daughters of Isabella, St. Rose of Lima Circle 832, will hold their March meeting next week.

HAYSVILLE – This Friday is Pi Day at the Haysville Community Library. The annual event celebrates “pi,” the ratio of the circumference of any circle to its diameter.
