Students graduate from Wichita State

More than 1,240 students completed a total of 1,378 degrees and certificates at Wichita State University in fall 2024. The breakdown of degrees and certificates granted includes 908 degrees and certificates for 845 undergraduate students and 470 degrees and certificates for 397 graduate students.

Insight Recently Farm Bureau members from across the country traveled to Denver for the Fusion Conference, which brings together members from three committees: Young Farmers & Ranchers, Women’s Leadership and Program & Engagement. Fusion is aptly named because it is an event with a diverse mix of speakers and topics blended together for different ages and participant interests.

Students earn WSU honors

Wichita State University has announced the names of 3,865 students who were on the WSU Dean's Honor Roll for fall 2024. To be included on the dean's honor roll, a student must be enrolled full time (at least 12 credit hours) and earn at least a 3.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

Ward earns FCS honor

HAYSVILLE – Brooke Ward, a teacher at Campus High School, has been recognized with the FCS In Excellence Award, presented by the Kansas Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (KAFCS). Ward was honored for demonstrating exceptional dedication and passion in the family and consumer sciences field.

Cardinals compete at 4-H Days

Turtle tales on the trail

The Sumner County Historical and Genealogical Society in Wellington will host “Turtle Tales on the Trail,' on Monday. The presentation by Leah Sommerhoff of Caldwell will be at 6:30 p.m.

Emergency response class coming to Cheney

CHENEY – Thirty-five years ago this Thursday, a massive F-5 tornado struck Hesston. Current Cheney resident Melissa Webb, who lived in Hesston at the time, recalls walking the streets of a destroyed town, dodging debris and not knowing what to do, or remembering what house used to be in a spot where only splintered lumber and insulation remained.

CSHS names artists of the month

CONWAY SPRINGS – Two students have been named as the February artists of the month at Conway Springs High School. Audrey Warren, a senior and Art 2 student, was chosen for her colored pencial called “Terrified Terrier.” It is on display throughout February at Vintage Bank.
