8 Years Ago New, energy-efficient windows highlight the work at Nelson and Freeman elementary schools, two sites that are seeing more limited work as a result of Haysville USD 261’s $59 million bond construction project. At Freeman, the new windows went in over the summer and students felt the benefit when the weather turned cold.

From March 1950 The Conway Springs school band received its new red and white complete uniforms, which will add snap to the school music. The uniform fund was started by the PTA last term as its project for the year, and then the school officials made arrangements to get the uniforms in time for the spring festivals.

Register for Neighbors United

GODDARD – Registration is now underway to volunteer for this year’s Neighbors United in Goddard. Volunteers will receive a free T-shirt, free breakfast, and free Chick-fil-A lunch.

GPHS needs forensics judges

GARDEN PLAIN – Judges are needed for the Garden Plain High School forensic invitational that will take place on April 5. This is the second year for the tournament.

Volunteer sought for park board

HAYSVILLE – The Haysville Park Board is looking for a volunteer to serve on the board. Mayor Russ Kessler will make an appointment to this advisory board, and the city council will vote on approval of the nomination.

USD 261, KU med school offer BREATHE summer program

TSnews HAYSVILLE – Applications are now being accepted for the third summer of the BREATHE (Building Relationships & Targeting Healthy Emotions) program. “The target audience is students with a diagnosis of ADHD (attention-deficit/ hyperactivity disorder) or characteristics or symptoms of ADHD,” said Linda Long, SBHC clinic coordinator for Haysville Public Schools.
