Staff report TSnews HAYSVILLE – Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a standoff in which gunfire was exchanged last week near Haysville. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office warrant team, with five deputies and a sergeant, tried to serve an arrest warrant for Robert Cook, age 43.

TSnews CLEARWATER – Max Barry and his father, Brad, hiked the Colorado Trail this summer. They covered 486 miles, and together made memories that will last a lifetime.

GARDEN PLAIN – Country music artist Kyle Killgore from Wichita will perform on Saturday in Garden Plain. Killgore’s music reflects the heart and soul of the Midwest, drawing inspiration from his upbringing in the heartland.

The 2024-2025 Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccines have received federal and state approval and will be available in mid-September. Effective immediately, the 2023-2024 COVID-19 vaccines are no longer approved for use.

GODDARD – The Goddard Hall of Fame will recognize the members of the Hall of Fame Class of 2024 on Friday, Sept. 13.

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – Major street work in this community took another step forward last week as members of the Conway Springs City Council voted to begin the design work for Parallel and Spring streets. Representatives from Ranson Financial and EBH, an engineering firm that has been helping the city with plans for street repairs, were at last week's meeting to discuss the next steps in the street work project.

TSnews GODDARD – The 2025 budget for the city of Goddard again generated discussion at the Aug. 27 city council meeting, this time among council members.

TSnews HAYSVILLE – School is now underway in Haysville, and teachers in USD 261 are working under a new contract with Haysville Public Schools. Educators went through the entire 2023-24 school year without a contract, working under the terms of the previous school year's contract.
