Gunfire exchanged in standoff near Haysville

Staff report TSnews HAYSVILLE – Multiple law enforcement agencies were involved in a standoff in which gunfire was exchanged last week near Haysville. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office warrant team, with five deputies and a sergeant, tried to serve an arrest warrant for Robert Cook, age 43.

CS Council moves ahead on major street work

TSnews CONWAY SPRINGS – Major street work in this community took another step forward last week as members of the Conway Springs City Council voted to begin the design work for Parallel and Spring streets. Representatives from Ranson Financial and EBH, an engineering firm that has been helping the city with plans for street repairs, were at last week's meeting to discuss the next steps in the street work project.

School year begins with new teacher contract

TSnews HAYSVILLE – School is now underway in Haysville, and teachers in USD 261 are working under a new contract with Haysville Public Schools. Educators went through the entire 2023-24 school year without a contract, working under the terms of the previous school year's contract.
