Drainage project finished after two decades

More than two decades of work has came to fruition as the D-21 drainage project in Haysville has been completed. Tony Martinez, Haysville's director of public works, said the drainage project will make a major improvement in stormwater management, especially in the Country Lakes development and areas south of 79th Street.

City Hall: Watch out for fake drag race accounts

ARGONIA – Officials with the City of Argonia are advising people to be ware of fake accounts tied in to the annual car show and street races, held each October. In a notice posted online on Monday, the officials stated, “We have already had multiple fake accounts responding to some comments and posts requesting for people to contact them for registration.” They noted that a “Thomas Event” is one of the fake accounts.

Donation aids summer program

HAYSVILLE – The Haysville USD 261 Board of Education recently accepted a donation of $2,000 for the district's Summer Exploration and Enrichment (SEE) program. The donation came from the Brian David Higby Fund.

Johnston named teacher of the year

GODDARD – Erin Johnston of Discovery Intermediate School was the winner of the Goddard Education Association Teacher of the Year Award. Results were announced at the Goddard School District End of the Year Celebration on May 24.

Hazardous waste event in Haysville

HAYSVILLE – Sedgwick County Environmental Resources will host a free household hazardous waste collection event, open to all residents, in the parking lot of Haysville City Hall, 200 W. Grand from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. this Saturday.
