CLEARWATER – Starting in July, senior swims will return to the Clearwater Aquatic Center. This highly-requested event is for seniors ages 55 and above to enjoy the pool from Monday to Thursday.
CHENEY – Isabel's Patnry will be offering food pickup this Thursday, both at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Mount Vernon by Cheney Lake, and in the parking lot at Cheney Middle School.
CHENEY – The Sedgwick County Fair is looking for contestants for next month’s Tom Northcutt BBQ Competition at the Fair. Registration will take place on Friday, July 12, from 7 to 8 p.m. The entry fee is $20 per team for side pot, and $120 per team for pork butt, ribs, brisket and dessert.

From June 1941 John Showman came in last week from Hamilton Field, Calif., to spend a few days with his father, Harry Showman, and other relatives. He brought with him his cousin, Junior Bradley of Los Angeles.
