CLEARWATER – The annual Clearwater Art Walk will take place this Friday. The free, family- friendly event will run 6-9 p.m in downtown Clearwater.

Community center re-opens with new look

GODDARD – The newly renovated Goddard Community Center was re-opened to the public on Monday evening with an open house and a Goddard Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting. The center had been closed since August to allow for a remodel of the interior.
Travis Mounts/TSnews City of Goddard officials and members of the Goddard Chamber of Commerce cut the ribbon ahead of Monday's open house at the Goddard Community Center. The months-long remodel is now finished. The interior remodel of the Goddard Community Center includes a new, higher ceiling, a refinished floor, new paint, and remodeled kitchen and bathrooms.

TSnews GODDARD – New dedicated turn lanes at 183rd Street West and US54 Highway took another step closer to reality at Monday’s Goddard City Council meeting. The council approved a contract with TranSystems for field services for the project in the amount of $96,888.69.

Former Garden Plain Student gets on the dean’s list

10 Years Ago Regina Prater, of Garden Plain, is among 531 students named to the dean’s list at Eastern Oregon University for the 2013 fall term. To qualify, students must achieve and maintain a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale while completing a minimum of 12 hours of graded coursework for the term.

Remodeled Leeker’s re-opens in Haysville

TSnews HAYSVILLE – A remodeled and locally-owned grocery store seemed to be a big hit last weekend. After being closed for a week for cleaning, refreshening and new equipment, Leeker’s Family Foods returned to Haysville after a two-decade absence.
Shoppers check out at the newly re-opened Leeker’s Family Foods. The company purchased the former CashSaver, completed a week-long remodel, and opened for business last Saturday. Fire causes major damage at Lubbers

TSnews CHENEY – Black smoke rising into the sky created quite a scene in Cheney Monday night, as a fire broke out in the shop section of Lubbers Ford. The multi-line dealership has separate buildings for Ford and Chevrolet sales.

Bodies found in Haysville

HAYSVILLE – Police in Haysville reported that the bodies of two subjects were found on Tuesday morning.

Officers went to house at 320 in Haysville on a welfare check and forced entry upon arrival. That is when they discovered the subjects.

Additional information was provided on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Both individuals in the house were adult males and knew one another, according to Police Chief Jeff Whitfield. One man lived at the house, and the other was staying at the residence temporarily.
