Koesters take 4th at State tennis

TSnews The Conway Springs cousin duo of Morgan and Sadie Koester took home a Class 3-1A State doubles tennis medal at the Riverside Tennis Center in Wichita over the weekend. This was the junior pair’s third time to qualify for State, and their second year advancing to a semifinal match in doubles.

Two Tigers make cut at Salina

TSnews Eisenhower’s Stella Wright shot a 23-over 93 in the first round of the Class 5A State girls golf tournament earlier this week at Salina, while teammate Aubrey Hardtarter shot a 25over 95 and Riley Pate carded a 31-over 101. Both Wright and Hardtarfer made the cut to move to the second day at the tournament.

TSnews Three tennis players in the TSNews coverage area qualified for State at regional meets over the weekend. From Campus High School, Jacilyn Seachris placed sixth in singles to punch her ticket, defeating opponents from Northwest, Maize and Derby.

TSnews The Goddard Lions girls golf team will send two girls to the Class 5A State tournament next week after they medaled on Monday at the Class 5A regional in Hutchinson. Sydney Chapman carded an 87 to take third, while Hayli Stevens tied for sixth after shooting a 94 to both earn medalist honors.

Collegiate gets district win at Clearwater

TSnews The Clearwater Indians football team’s path to a home playoff game was most likely blocked by last Friday’s 35-0 home loss to the Collegiate Spartans. The Indians and Spartans were locked in a close game, with the Spartans scoring in each of the first two quarters for a 14-0 halftime lead.

TSnews The visiting Hutchinson Salthawks put up 35 first-quarter points en route to a 50-0 victory over the Campus Colts last Friday on homecoming night. The Salthawks added a second-quarter touchdown, and scored a touchdown and a 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter.

Indians second at Council Grove, two players hit milestones

TSnews The Clearwater Indians volleyball team turned in another strong week on the court and also had a pair of players earn some special achievements. First of all, the Indians took second at the Council Grove invite, beating Santa Fe Trail 25-16, 25-10, the host Braves 25-11, 2515, Jefferson West 25-11, 25-15 and Wamego 25-23, 25-19, but falling to Clay Center 26-28, 25-27.
