Northwest edges Eisenhower on last-second FG

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers and Wichita Northwest Grizzlies played a wild, back-and-forth football game last Friday in Goddard, with the visiting Grizzlies winning 31-28 on a last-second field goal. It was a non-league game between highly- ranked teams, with the Tigers among the best Class 5A teams and the Grizzlies among the best 6A squads.

Garden Plain tops Clearwater in first game since 1982

TSnews A pair of first-half touchdowns from the Garden Plain Owls football team combined with a pair of lost fumbles by the Clearwater Indians helped the Owls to a 35-7 victory in Clearwater. It was the first meeting between the teams since 1982.

Road unkind as Lions fall to Mustangs

TSnews The Goddard Lions had hoped for a more welcoming situation last Friday in Salina, but the host Mustangs proved to be ungracious in defeating the Lions 52-24. It was a close contest in the first half, as the teams traded scores.

Cardinals pull away in second half for win in Caldwell

TSnews The Conway Springs Cardinals put up 28 points in the second half to pull away from the South Sumner Outlaws in Caldwell, 42-20, last Friday. It was the first time the Cardinals have played the cooperative program comprised of Caldwell and South Haven students.

Cheney holds on for important victory over Pratt

TSnews The Cheney Cardinals were able to hold off a persistent Pratt Greenbacks football team for a 28-26 home win last Friday, in the final week of the regular season. With the win, the Cardinals finished as the runners-up in Class 3A District 7 and secured a home playoff game this week.

Colts stung by Hornets for road loss

TSnews The host Valley Center Hornets took care of business last Friday, beating the Campus Colts 37-2 in the final week of the football regular season. It was the second win of the season for the Hornets, while the Colts ended the regular season winless at 0-8.

Law limits drones in hunting

With deer season in full swing, Kansas Game Wardens are receiving questions regarding drones and using them as hunting aids. Drones may be used to scout on private lands that a hunter has permission to hunt.

New format for football playoffs
