Garden Plain shuts out Phillipsburg, advances in 2A

Raiders finish fourth at State volleyball

TSnews The Argonia Raiders wrapped up their most successful volleyball season in a decade last Saturday when they finished fourth at the Class 1A Division II State tournament in Emporia. Argonia made it to the semifinals by going 1-2 in pool play last Friday and earning the second bid in its pool by winning a three-way tiebreaker.

Clearwater goes 1-2 at 4A State tourney

TSnews The Clearwater Indians volleyball team finished one win short of advancing to the final four at the Class 4A State tournament last Friday as the Indians finished State tournament pool play 1-2 for the second year in a row. Clearwater defeated Concordia 25-23, 25-17 in its first pool contest, but fell to McPherson 16-25, 23-25 in the second pool contest and then fell to Rock Creek 18-25, 14-25 in the final contest of pool play.

Beavers dam up Indians’ offense

TSnews The Scott Community High School Beavers outscored the Clearwater Indians 21-0 after halftime to end the Indians’ season last Friday in the first round of the Class 3A football playoffs, The Beavers struck first, taking advantage of a short field after a long punt return, to go ahead 7-0 in the first quarter. The Indians tied the game at 7 with a second- quarter scoring drive that ended with a touchdown run by Garrison Wells.

Hornets sting Lions for early playoff exit

Cardinals begin title defense with big win

Pabst sets TD record as Tigers roll

Playing a day early did not seem to hurt the Eisenhower football team, as the Tigers rolled over the Emporia Spartans 55-10 in the first round of the Class 5A playoffs on Halloween night. All the treats went to the Tigers’ Carter Pabst, who thrilled the crowd with five touchdowns.

Fast start boosts Derby over Campus Colsts

TSnews A quick start to last week’s Class 6A first-round playoff game helped the host Derby Panthers to a 62-7 win over the Campus Colts. The undefeated Panthers had three kick returns for touchdowns, and returned other kicks inside the Colts’ 20-yard line.

Owls tame Bulldogs for a second time

TSnews Meeting up for the second time in less than three weeks, the Garden Plain Owls football team beat the visiting Douglass Bulldogs 48-0 last Friday to open the Class 2A playoffs. The Owls won 44-0 at Douglass just two Fridays prior to the rematch.
