TSnews The start of this season feels a lot like last year for the Conway Springs Cardinals football team. The Cardinals stand at 0-2 following Friday’s 40-19 home loss to the Kingman Eagles.

TSnews Trailing 12-7 early at the Salina Central Mustangs, the Eisenhower Tigers football team outscored the the Mustangs 37-10 en route to a 44-28 victory. That improved the Tigers’ record to 2-0 this season.

TSnews The Wellington Crusaders edged the Clearwater Indians football team 21-14 last Friday in Clearwater, in a game that saw three lead changes. The Indians came into the game following a 27-point win over an El Dorado team that may struggle all season.

TSnews A trio of second-half scores by the Cheney Cardinals football team turned a close game last Friday into a convincing 41-14 win over the visiting Garden Plain Owls. At halftime, it appeared that the game could have gone either way as the Owls put together a nice comeback after falling into an early hole.

TSnews The Goddard Lions boys soccer team went 2-1 and finished third in the Goddard-Campus tournament last week, losing in the Sept. 7 semifinal to eventual champion Garden City in a game that ended regulation tied 3-2 and was decided in the Buffaloes’ favor based on penalty kicks.

TSnews The Eisenhower Tigers boys soccer team competed in the Goddard-Campus tournament last week, beating Winfield and Rose Hill to land in the title match, then falling to Garden City, 5-0, to finish in second place. The 5-0 scoreline in the championship match does not tell the whole story, Tigers head coach Roger Downing said.

TSnews The Campus Colts went 1-2 in the Goddard-Campus boys soccer tournament last week, but head coach Casey Reece saw improvement in each game – an important consideration as the team attempts to gear up for its league schedule. The tournament campaign started Sept.

It was a long night for the Campus Colts, who dropped to 0-2 this football season after a 49-7 road loss at the Maize South Mavericks. The Mavericks were in control from the start, putting up 35 first-half points and taking a 49-0 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Eisenhower Tigers and the Maize South Mavericks tied for first place at the Tigers’ home nine-hole tournament, played last Thursday at Auburn Hills Golf Course. The Tigers’ Kayla Jensen shot 45 to win the individual title, and teammate Madison Loomis tied with Andover Central’s Ashley Kramer for second place, as each shot 46.

TSnews The Goddard Lions football team was unable to hold an early lead at home last Friday, as the Valley Center Hornets came back from behind to beat the Lions 14-6. The Lions took a lead late in the first quarter on a 30-yard touchdown run by Mason Healy, his third touchdown this season.
