This is the time of year that Kansas City Chiefs football fans start trying to figure out the amount of red and gold they are going to wear in any given week, and how many times they are going to uncontrollably scream “Go Chiefs” at seemingly appropriate times.

Following are the top winners from the 2023 Sedgwick County Electric Cooperative Pedal Pull, held during the Sedgwick County Fair last month. The top three finishers in each age division have the opportunity to advance and take part in the statewide competition in September at the Kansas State Fair.

TSnews Leah Allen, a 14-year-old Goddard High School student, won 4-H Grand Champion at the Sedgwick County Fair for a television stand she crafted. Allen is a member of the Ninnescah Valley 4-H Club in Clearwater.

TSnews GODDARD – The third annual Summerball Showdown started Wednesday night at Genesis Sports Complex in Goddard. The national tournament, similar in model to the long-running National Baseball Congress World Series in Wichita, has drawn two dozen teams this year.

TSnews GODDARD – The third annual Summerball Showdown baseball tournament gets underway next week, and organizers say it will be bigger and better than ever. Mike Flores of the Summerball Showdown said this year’s field will be the largest yet, with 24 teams from nine different states.

TSnews The Kansas Curve of Goddard will take part in the Summerball Showdown, which will begin next Wednesday at the Genesis Sports Complex. The Curve is one of several Kansas Collegiate League Baseball teams invited to the third-year tournament.

TSnews The Haysville Aviators will wrap up the regular season this Thursday and Friday. They will host the Kansas Cannons at 7 p.m.

The Kansas Curve summer collegiate baseball team played just a pair of games over the past week, winning twice. The Curve cracked the El Dorado Walnuts 14-13 last week on Wednesday in a game played at Eisenhower High School in Goddard.
