Body The Goddard Lions volleyball team had a long day last Saturday at the Arkansas City Invitational, going 1-3 at the tournament. The Lions lost to Mulvane 23-25, 22-25, Clearwater 17-25, 20-25 and Andover Central 17-25, 1925, but beat Winfield 25-17, 25-19.

Owls hold on for close win over Cardinals

Body TSnews Playing last Thursday night, the host Garden Plain Owls and visiting Conway Springs Cardinals delivered another classic battle in this long-running rivalry. The Owls held on for a 20-14 victory.

High school tennis teams start new season

Body TSnews Local-area girls tennis teams started their season, which is always short and competition-packed, compared to other fall sports. It was a slow start for most players, results-wise.

Cardinals compete at Nickerson

Body TSnews The Cheney Cardinals girls golf team took seventh at the nine-team Nickerson tournament early last week. The Cardinals shot 250, coming in just two strokes behind sixth-place Medicine Lodge and nine strokes in back of fifth-place Hesston.
